Narendra Mod flags off nine Vande Bharat Express trains

News Delhi, India : Today Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi flagged off 9 Vande Bharat trains through video conferencing. These new Vande Bharat trains are a step towards realizing the Prime Minister’s vision of improving connectivity across the country and providing world-class facilities to rail passengers.

Tirunelveli-Madurai-Chennai Vande Bharat Express
Hyderabad-Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express
Vijayawada-Chennai (via Renigunta) Vande Bharat Express
Patna-Howrah Vande Bharat Express
Kasaragod-Thiruvananthapuram Vande Bharat Express
Rourkela-Bhubaneswar-Puri Vande Bharat Express
Ranchi-Howrah Vande Bharat Express
Jamnagar-Ahmedabad Vande Bharat Express

These nine trains will boost connectivity in 11 states – Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Bihar, West Bengal, Kerala, Odisha, Jharkhand and Gujarat.

These Vande Bharat trains will run at the fastest speed on their operational routes and will save a lot of time for passengers. Compared to the current fastest train on the route, the Rourkela-Bhubaneswar-Puri Vande Bharat Express and Kasaragod-Thiruvananthapuram Vande Bharat Express will travel approximately three hours faster; Hyderabad-Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express to save over 2.5 hours; Tirunelveli-Madurai-Chennai Vande Bharat Express will save more than 2 hours; Ranchi-Howrah Vande Bharat Express, Patna-Howrah Vande Bharat Express and Jamnagar-Ahmedabad Vande Bharat Express will save time of about one hour and Udaipur-Jaipur Vande Bharat Express will travel faster by about half an hour.

The Prime Minister described the flagging off of 9 Vande Bharat trains as an unprecedented opportunity for modern connectivity in the country. He said, “This pace and scale of infrastructure development in the country exactly matches the aspirations of 140 crore Indians. The trains started are more modern and comfortable. He said that these Vande Bharat trains symbolize the new enthusiasm of New India. More than one crore eleven lakh people have traveled in Vande Bharat trains and expressed happiness that the enthusiasm towards Vande Bharat is increasing.

Prime Minister Modi informed that 25 Vande Bharat trains are in service of the people in various states and union territories. He said that today 9 more Vande Bharat trains are being added to it and the day is not far when Vande Bharat will connect every part of the country. He also said that Vande Bharat is beneficial for those who want to save time and travel in a single day. He also highlighted the increase in tourism and economic activities at places associated with Vande Bharat.

Prime Minister Modi underlined the atmosphere of hope and confidence in the country and said that every citizen is feeling proud of the country’s achievements. He mentioned the historic successes of Chandrayaan 3 and Aditya L1. He said that similarly the success of G-20 has demonstrated the strength of India’s democracy, demography and diversity.

Referring to the Narishakti Vandan Act, he described it as a defining moment to advance women-led development. In this regard he mentioned that many railway stations are being run by women officers.

The Prime Minister said that a confident India is working together on its present and future needs. He listed the PM Gatishakti Masterplan for seamless coordination in infrastructure development and the new logistics policy for reduction in transportation and export related charges. He also talked about multimodal connectivity as one mode of transport needs to support other modes. He said that all this is to improve the ease of travel for the common citizens.

Emphasizing the importance of Railways in the lives of common citizens, the Prime Minister regretted the neglect of this important sector in earlier times. Referring to the efforts of the present government for the transformation of Indian Railways, the Prime Minister informed about the increase in the budget. This year’s budget for the Railways is eight times more than the 2014 railway budget. Similarly, work is going on on doubling, electrification and new routes.

The Prime Minister stressed that India, which is on the path of development, will now have to modernize its railway stations also. Keeping this thinking in mind, a campaign for development and modernization of railway stations has been started for the first time in India. Today, a record number of foot over bridges, lifts and escalators are being constructed in the country for the convenience of railway passengers. Just a few days ago, the work of redevelopment of more than 500 major stations of the country was started. The Prime Minister said that these new stations built during the Amrit period will be called Amrit Bharat Stations. He said that in the coming days, these stations will become the identity of the new India.

As the Railways has started celebrating the ‘Foundation Day’ of the establishment of the railway station, the Prime Minister mentioned celebrations in Coimbatore, Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus and Mumbai. Coimbatore Railway Station has completed 150 years. “Now this tradition of celebrating the birthday of railway stations will be further expanded and more and more people will be included in it.

The Prime Minister said that the country has made the vision of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat a means of accomplishment through determination. To achieve the goal of developed India by 2047, development of every state and people of every state is necessary. He said that the Railway Minister’s selfish thinking of focusing on the development of Railways in his own state has caused great harm to the country and now we cannot leave any state behind. He said, ‘We have to move forward with the vision of Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas.
