But India’s second World Cup warm-up match against Netherlands was abandoned due to incessant rain on Tuesday.
India will enter the Cricket World Cup 2023 without practice
Not even a single ball could be bowled in India’s first practice match in Guwahati last week. India is thus the only team that will enter the World Cup without practicing batting or bowling in the practice match. The Indian team will play its first match against Australia in Chennai on 8 October.
India are coming off a recent series win against five-time world champions Australia, which has given them a lot of confidence ahead of the crucial World Cup returning to India after a gap of 12 years.
There was 97% chance of rain
The Netherlands, on the other hand, faced Australia in their first warm-up match on 30 September at the same venue in a rain-affected game.
Although there was no result, Australia scored 166 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in 23 overs, while the Netherlands could only score 84 runs and the match was abandoned after losing 6 wickets.
According to Accuweather, there was a 97% prediction of rain and a 44% chance of thunderstorms during the day. There could be around 18 mm of rain during the day which could play a big role in ruining India’s preparations ahead of the ODI World Cup. The temperature in Thiruvananthapuram today is expected to be between 25 to 30 degrees Celsius.
