Raipur : The newly appointed Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Vishnu Deo Sai, was born on 21 February 1964 in village Bagiya of Kansabel tehsil of Jashpur district. Vishnu Deo Sai’s father is late Ram Prasad Sai and mother is Jasmani Devi. Vishnu Deo Sai tied the knot with Kaushalya Sai on 27 May 1991. They have one son and two daughters. Vishnu Deo Sai completed his education till higher secondary at Loyola Higher Secondary School, Kunkuri.

Political journey of Vishnu Deo Sai

Vishnu Deo Sai’s political career started after he was elected Panch of Gram Panchayat Bagiya in 1989. Became unopposed Sarpanch of Gram Panchayat Bagiya in 1990, member of Madhya Pradesh Assembly from 1990 to 98, elected MLA from Tapkara, elected MP of Raigarh Lok Sabha constituency as a member of 13th Lok Sabha in 1999, again elected Raigarh parliamentary seat in 14th Lok Sabha in 2004 Was elected MP from, was elected State President of Bharatiya Janata Party in 2006, was elected Lok Sabha MP from Raigarh parliamentary seat for the 15th Lok Sabha in 2009, was again elected State President of Bharatiya Janata Party in 2011. In 2014, he was elected as Lok Sabha MP from Raigarh parliamentary seat as a member of the 16th Lok Sabha. From 27 May 2014 to 2019, he was the Union Minister of State for the Ministry of Steel, Mines, Labor and Employment. Re-elected State President of Bharatiya Janata Party from 2020 to 2022. On 2 December 2022, he was elected as a special invitee to the National Executive of BJP. Nominated member of the National Working Committee on 8 July 2023 and elected MLA from Kunkuri seat in the assembly elections declared on 3 December. On 10 December 2023, the Legislative Party of Chhattisgarh elected him as its leader and was elected as the next and first tribal Chief Minister of the state.

Family background of newly appointed Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai

Giving information about the family background, the newly appointed Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said that I myself belong to a farming family, during the time of Jan Sangh, my elder father late Narhari Prasad Sai was the MLA from Lailunga assembly constituency from 1962 to 1967 and MP from 1972 to 1977. He was a Lok Sabha MP and Union Minister of State for Communications, Government of India in the Janata Dal government. Vishnu Dev Sai says that his elder father late Kedar Nath Sai represented the MLA assembly constituency Tapkara from 1967 to 1972 during the time of Jan Sangh and grandfather Sardar late Budhnath Sai was nominated MLA from the area from 1947 to 1952.
