Jammu and Kashmir’s first state-of-the-art Tata Memorial Center

India : Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State for Science & Technology (Independent Charge), Prime Minister’s Office, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, today inaugurated Jammu and Kashmir’s first state-of-the-art cancer care facility affiliated with Tata Memorial Center (TMC), Mumbai. Launching the new block of Government Medical College, Kathua, he said that this facility will cater to the needs of three regions of Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh.

He said that he was pained to receive calls every morning from different parts of the region from desperate family members requesting him to admit the cancer patient to Tata Hospital Mumbai or arrange accommodation for the attendants. He had then decided to start a Tata-affiliated facility in Kathua. Corresponded about this with the Department of Atomic Energy which is the controlling authority of Tata Memorial Center Mumbai.

Jitendra Singh said that due to increasing age, changing lifestyle, environmental factors, the prevalence of cancer is taking the form of an epidemic and cancers of all nature and all organs are increasing everywhere. He said that the Tata Satellite Cancer Care Facility in Kathua will prove to be a big boon for the region.

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, satellite hospitals and Tata Memorial Center facilities have been launched in different parts of the country. Onco DM and MCh super specialty courses have also been started in Guwahati. Later this option can also be considered for Kathua.

Jitendra Singh said that ‘Kathua-Udhampur-Doda’ parliamentary constituency can become the future ‘health circuit’ of India with state-of-the-art health facilities like three medical colleges, AIIMS and North India’s first biotech park. An accessible and affordable cancer treatment is going to start today in the Day Care Chemotherapy (Onco-Care) Unit at GMC Kathua as the missing link for affordable and accessible cancer treatment in the region has been completed today.

Jitendra Singh said this while addressing a large gathering during the inauguration of the much-needed Day-Care Chemotherapy Unit, 300 LPM Oxygen Plant and Maternal Intensive Care Unit at GMC Kathua.

Jitendra Singh said that onco-care at GMC Kathua will be upgraded in the coming years as Onco DM and MCH seats will be provided and world class cancer experts will be invited here for treatment, lectures and seminars.

Regarding the treatment of various types of cancer, Dr. Jitendra Singh said that India played a leading role in the production of vaccines to prevent deadly diseases like ‘CERVAC’ as the field of biotechnology is growing rapidly in India. Now India has set a target of achieving a bio-economy of $150 billion by 2025, up from $100 billion in 2022.

During the inaugural programme, Jitendra Singh said that affordable, accessible healthcare is the roadmap for ‘Healthy India’ under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, which is also evident from the fact that more than 260 new medical colleges have been established in the country. went. In 9 years, MBBS seats have been increased by 79 percent, PG seats have been increased by 93 percent and 22 AIIMS have been approved.

Jitendra Singh said India has moved from a regional and fragmented approach to healthcare delivery to comprehensive need-based healthcare delivery and is now being seen as a role model in crisis management and preventive healthcare.

Jitendra Singh thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for focusing on ‘Preventive Health Care’ for the first time in the country because that is why in a period of only two years, India could produce two DNA vaccines and one nasal vaccine Is.

Secretary, Health and Medical Education, Jammu and Kashmir, Shri Bhupinder Kumar in his address said that the establishment of day-care chemotherapy onco-care unit at GMC Kathua will make cancer treatment accessible and affordable in the region.
